On Thursday 19th October, children in KS1 delivered a fantastic assembly about the 'Harvest Festival' They sang a variety of songs which gave thanks to God and expressed the values of giving and charity. The children explained that harvest is a time to appreciate the abundance of food we have and to be grateful for the hard work of farmers and growers. They emphasised on the importance of food, where it comes from, and how we can show gratitude. The children set the scene by describing a farm and the crops grown there and made mention of some common crops such as wheat, beetroot, potatoes, leeks, onions, and carrots. They explained that farmers work hard during harvest time to gather these crops. At the end of the assembly, the children spoke about where their favourite foods come from and donated tins of food to add to the Harvest Table. It was an amazing festival!
