The School Day

A typical school day at Crowland Primary School.

Getting to School

We have been working with Haringey to improve the safety and journey for our working pupils. Together we developed a map showing our 5 and 10 Minute Walk Zones. These zones are areas around the school which we encourage children to walk within to get to school. There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. We do also have bike racks for those children coming to school on their bikes. If you need to travel by car, school requests that, for safety reasons, parents do not park on the zig zag lines outside the school gate.

Our playgrounds open at 8:45am each day and are managed by a staff member from that time. Children in KS1 must be supervised by their parent or carer until the beginning of the school day.

If your child is unwell or not coming to school for any reason, you MUST notify the school on the first day of that absence. Please call the office on 020 8800 4553 and choose option 1 to report your child’s absence. If your child’s absence is due to medical/dental appointments, please ensure you provide the office with a copy of your appointment card or letter.

At the end of the day we ask that children are collected on time. It is distressing for a child, when everybody else has gone home, to be left at school. We understand that occasionally problems do arise, but if for any reason you will be late collecting your child please telephone the school office.

End of the School Day

At the end of the school day, the teachers bring the children out into the playgrounds for parents to collect. Children in Year 5 and 6 are only allowed to walk home independently if the school has written permission.

The school day can be extended in many ways. Crowland runs its own breakfast club and after school club. There are also a wide range of sports and art clubs that run for approximately an hour after school every weekday afternoon.
