We are very proud here at Crowland to announce the launch of our Saturday Shine Project, following a successful bid to the Shine Charity.
For most young people the prospect of waking up early to attend a school on a Saturday morning would be their worst nightmare. The Shine Project is different and seeks to engage our children in fun activities that are designed to improve their English, maths and knowledge of the world in a creative way. Crowland Primary School is working very closely and uniquely with Gladesmore Community School, who have a proven track record of delivering a very successful Saturday provision.
It is the school’s aim to put fun and engagement at the heart of learning and to enhance children’s experiences, including visits to places in London and possibly wider afield. Children are identified in Years 4, 5 and 6 to attend the project, and attendance is expected each week. Our curriculum design will involve learning through topics such as, Landmarks in London, the Enchanted wood, Fashion and will be incorporated into PE, dance, drama, cooking and will link to English and mathematical skills.
Shine is a charity that sponsors schools to deliver a quality provision aimed at improving the educational outcomes for targeted children. More information can be found on their website shinetrust.org.uk.
